The third of four children, I grew up in a family where love was generally seen on sitcoms with laugh tracks. Originally from Wisconsin, our family lived in Tennessee for dad’s job for about six years in the 1970’s. We returned to Wisconsin and I eventually landed on the other side of the Mississippi river, now residing in gorgeous La Crescent Minnesota. I have the absolute best husband in the world and we share our five fabulous sons, who are hilarious and patient.
I am a harvester of humor, a goofy friend, embarrassing mom and a prank ninja. My big girl job is as administrative assistant and records at a police department. I have great respect for the officers I work with and all law enforcement. Thank you for your bravery and service.
I’m very proud to run an award-winning comedy troupe called Heart of La Crosse. I started with this improv and sketch comedy group back in’99. The cast is for hire to do improv parties for your corporate event or private party, and I know your team could use a dose of interactive comedy. Check out our website and connect on social media—you won’t regret it. www.heartoflacrosse.com
If you need a humorous keynote presentation or would like to set up a Laughs On Wry book reading and book signing, please contact me.
I also do voiceovers, write humor columns, play the drums, and I can almost do the splits.

My Yearly Exam
I was in my early 40s and it was the “big date” with my physician.
Time for my yearly physical. Yee and haw. I don’t recall dates, ages, and the such—we can chat about that at some other point, so let’s get to this appointment. It’s a rather unique little tale. (Click for more)
The server drops off our burgers and fries, and I’m pretty proud of the ingredients I ordered on my “build your own.” Olives and pickles—yum! While topping things off with the best condiment ever, mustard, I notice a lady at the bar who keeps glancing over at us. (Click for more)
Lisa has written poignantly and beautifully about that silent life of survival and placed it on a slab of wry for us to absorb. Sometimes wincingly uncomfortable, other times hilarious. At all times, unpretentiously honest.”

Smart, insightful, and HILARIOUS! Lisa takes her life experiences and shows us how you can find the humor (and the healing) in almost any of life’s situations. If you’re looking for a light at the end of the tunnel or even just want a good laugh (or both), this is the book you need!

Laughs On Wry – An Improviser’s Memoir, is a poignant passage through the looking glass of life creating art. The truthful, comic narrative exemplifies that humor can protect and eventually heal the soul. ”

"What I love about Lisa's writing is how she takes the ordinary that we all experience and turns it into hysterical and relatable stories. This style is funny, but really powerful, when she deals with her sometimes tough childhood. Laughs On Wry brings perspectives about how human we all are. We can rise above such challenges with humor."
